What to Expect: This work site is ideal for volunteers who are adventerous and surefooted. The large volume of trash and the steep hillside will make this a challenging endevour, but the experienced Allegheny CleanWays Dumpbusters will do prep work beforehand and be on site during the cleanup to ensure it is safe and productive. The initial slope is steep, but it levels off where most of the debris is. There are heavy items, like tires, washing machines, and barrels; but there are also lots of lightweight plastic bottles and metal cans.
What to Bring: Dress in layers and wear clothes that can get dirty (Long pants/long sleeves, sturdy close-toed shoes). Reusable water bottles are encouraged, but water will also be provided. Parking space is limited on Marietta and Premo streets. Park on Morningside ave and walk 0.1 mi down Baker street to Marietta street.
What is Provided: Gloves, tools, toilet, water, first aid kit, and pizza afterwards. Staff will provide a safety training beforehand, so please arrive at 9:30 am.
Finishing the Job: The DumpBusters invite volunteers to return to the job site for the three following Saturdays, to finish cleaning the hillside. More details to follow.
