Alana moved to Pittsburgh from Portland Oregon in 2023. Before that, she grew up in the deep south and southern Appalachia. She has been a community organizer, professional athlete, combat medic, blacksmith, and occasional writer. Alana graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a bachelor’s degree in Art with a concentration in sculpture and metalwork.

Alana is a lifelong outdoorswoman and she fills her free time with backpacking trips, long distance running, martial arts training, and foraging for mushrooms and edible plants. She has walked on lakeshores in northern Ontario, scrambled up mountains in Afghanistan, and wandered crowded streets in Thailand.

Alana finds great satisfaction in community service and physical challenge, and her favorite type of trash is old heavy scrap metal with a story.
