Allegheny River

The Allegheny River will be the Tireless Project's River of Focus in fall of 2022. Our crew will spend two weeks living on the Allegheny River conducting riverfront cleanups with volunteer groups from various communities. In June of 2021 our team will spend four doing their Allegheny River Blitz. Our team will spend the days with volunteers cleaning up debris from the Allegheny River banks and scouting cleanup locations for the upcoming 2022 cleanup series!

The Tireless Project team will work the riverbanks from Freeport, right at the edge of the county, all the way back to Point State Park. The Allegheny River's banks range from beaches to steep tree covered slopes. The variety of landscapes along the Allegheny River offer cleanups of varying difficulty that can suit any volunteer group's needs!

Fun Fact
  • The Allegheny River was historically considered to be the upper Ohio River by both Native Americans and European settlers.
