The Monongahela River is a 130 mile long River that flows from north-central West Virginia to Point State Park in Pittsburgh to form the headwaters of the Ohio River with the Allegheny River. The Monongahela River was the Tireless Project's river of focus in fall of 2020. Our river cleanup crew spent two weeks living in a houseboat on the Monongahela River traveling from Forward Township, at the edge of Allegheny County, back to Point State Park in Pittsburgh. Our team worked with small groups of volunteers on our boat, Rachel Carson, and removed debris from the riverbanks. During the cleanup series our team and volunteers removed 11,526 pounds of trash and 175 tires!
