Title: Water-based Program Coordinator
Position: Full-time; year-round
Salary: Starting at a base salary of $45,000 with full compensation valued at around $54,000 including benefits listed below:

Mission/Description of Organization:
Allegheny CleanWays is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2000 to "engage and empower people to eliminate illegal dumping and littering in Allegheny County."
Description: This is a full-time position (avg 40 hrs/week) that will coordinate all activities associated with our river/stream cleanup program. Some evening and significant weekend work expected.
Duties: Primary duties will include:
Qualifications/Skills: Must have safe boating license or willingness to get one/boating experience ; trailering experience or willingness to learn to trailer a boat; organizational and leadership skills including the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments as well as prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently. Must be able to work independently. Must have the ability to direct/assist safe lifting of heavy items, operate a boat and an automatic transmission pickup truck, and maintain hand (non-power) tools, as well as to supervise and mentor assistants, interns, and volunteers. Must have proficient computer and public speaking skills, valid driver’s license, safe boating certificate, and all Act clearances. Should enjoy working with children and/or youth.
Preferred Skills: Captain’s license or willingness to pursue one, prior clean-up and/or environmental stewardship project management, volunteer management experience, CPR and First Aid training, environmental education background.

- Boat Pilot/Crew Leader
- Piloting boat for crew cleanups, public cleanups, and series cleanups
- Expanding program partnerships and collaboration efforts
- Contracting cleanups outside of the county to continue being a part of the larger conversation around water-based stewardship
- Training Tireless crew/program staff
- Program Coordination
- Coordinating with Program Director, Development Director, Tireless Project Crew Member and/or other staff in scheduling and designing water-based cleanups and education activities.
- Coordinating with Program Director, Development Director, Land-Based Program Coordinator, and/or other staff in scheduling and designing cross program collaborative cleanups. (i.e., creek stomp, litter, storm drain sweep, etc.)
- Overseeing storm drain adoption program and incorporate into water-based and education programs
- Growing our presence and relationships with watershed groups throughout the county and assisting them with cleanups year-round
- Maintain water-based program data on Allegheny CleanWays database
- Volunteer Management
- Facilitating a positive volunteer experience
- Getting completed sign-in sheets
- Providing background on Allegheny CleanWays,
- Informing volunteers of cleanup protocol, health hazards, safety precautions, and proper disposal methods.
- Modeling safe and effective cleanup methods, while assisting in cleanup
- Event Planning
- Assisting in developing yearly schedule and facilitating the planning and coordinating with project partners regarding details of events: location, logistics, duties, schedules, etc.
- Registering events on designated areas
- Tabling at outreach events when appropriate
- Educational and/or Service-Learning Event Facilitation
- Assisting in the development of appropriate educational materials and activities
- Leading participants (generally children and youth) in classroom and service-learning activities
