City Steps Stewardship

Adopt a Set of Steps
Thanks to generous funding from the Garden Club of Allegheny County, a member of the Garden Club of America, ACW is piloting a city step stewardship program on a few staircases on the city's north side. Many of these staircases are critical pieces of infrastructure for pedestrians but often suffer from invasive species overgrowth and illegal dumping. These obstacles can make the stairways more difficult and less appealing to use. Over the past year, ACW and Landforce have removed trash, repainted railings, and planted native species to give these stairs a fresh start.

At this time, all of our volunteer opportunities for this program have been filled. We are planning to expand this program to new neighborhoods and stairways in the future, so please sign up by clicking the "Adopt A SET OF STEPS" button above to be added to our mailing list for this program.

In the meantime, you can:
  • Sign up as a steward in our Gratekeepers program
  • Volunteer on one of our scheduled cleanups
  • Email any questions to [email protected].
